Mike, how does that resolution help your vision? I am curious as I have
vision problems. I thought the higher the number the better the
resolution, the clearer the picture (better quality), am I wrong about that?
When is it better to use a computer LCD monitor than a HDTV LCD monitor or
are they basically one in the same? I saw a Vizio today at Walmart 22" with
a high resolution number for about 374.00 and just purchased a Samsung a
week or more ago for about 500.00, wondered why the diff in price. I think
resolution was about the same, unless it is just that Walmarts prices were
lower. I did not see the same Samsung there but did see a 26" with a lower
resolution number for about the same I paid for the 22" only they had diff
resolution numbers.

Hello Don,
I use a 32" Sony Bravia 1080 LCD HDTV/monitor 60Hz refresh rate
(1080 X 724) gives me the best view with my vision.
It has a seperate PC imput jack so I can use it with my old
AMD 1000 I use all day long.
My new Vista computer has a DVI/HDTV output and I can also
at the same time.
I just use device imput from the remote control to see whichever
screen I wish to view.
I also have the 46" Sony Bravia 1080 LCD HDTV 120Hz refresh rate
that I can also is as a monitor and watch DVD's from my computers.
My Viewsonic 27" LCD developed Ghosting and a ?Watermark stain
going from 1inch on the top left to 6 inches on the bottom left
after almost 3 years.
Costco where I purchased it gave me back my full $1200 purchase price.
(they has since changed the refund policy to 3 months only)

How important is response time? A 2ms response time is probably very
important for certain games or videos that involve high speed action. How
will a 5ms or 8ms response time affect picture quality or viewing
experience if the fastest action involved is watching an occasional YouTube

Contrast ratio (definition here: http://tinyurl.com/5f56el) sounds as if it
would make a significant difference in picture quality yet I have seen
700:1 TVs look as good as or better than 1500:1. That suggests other
factors are at play here. ?????
1080p means your HD picture consists of 1920 columns and 1080 rows of
pixels and all rows are drawn on each redraw. A 1080i picture would redraw
the odd and even rows in alternating redraws.
720p and 720i is the same except the pixels are 1280 columns and 720 rows.

For reference: 480p is Enhanced Definition TV (EDTV) and 480i is Standard
Defintion TV (SDTV). Google "define:480p" and "define:480i" without the
quotes to get definitions.
At what size display will the 1080/720 difference become significant? 26"
37" 52"?
