I have not liked Google's Picasa since the day it first became
available. The first thing it did wrong was to catalog or sort or
whatever it does every single picture on my computer without even
asking me if I wanted it to or allowing me to specify where to look
and where NOT to look. Then there was no way that I could find to
delete any pictures from the catalog. And if you use its email
feature it shrinks all your pictures unless to send only one at a time
and then you have to tell it do not shrink every time you send one.
Plus, my computer already tells the Google Mother Ship enough about
me. I don't want it knowing dittly squat about my pictures or what I
do with them.
Granted, those problems are features for those that can't or don't
want to organize their pictures and don't care what the pictures look
like when the email recipient gets them and doesn't care how much
Google knows about them or their pictures or who they send them to.
Those problems do not exist in IrfanView.
