Robert,

A program like BelArc Advisor (www.belarc.com) or AIDA32 (www.aida32.hu)
will tell you the make and model of the DVD. Both are free, but I prefer
AIDA32 as it's reporting screens are formatted along the lines of SiSoft
Sandra. Also AIDA32 puts links to manufacturer's websites for more
information and drivers. Pretty cool program.

Can anyone help with a DVD player? Mine will not play. This much I know:

I am using Windows ME (Changing to XP is cost prohitive for me at the
moment.) It is version 4.90.3000
A Casio PDA is plugged into the computer via USB
A Zip drive is plugged into the computer via USB
A photo printer (Sony) is connected via USB
I use an Epson Perfection scanner via USB +very+ heavily, perhaps six hours
per day.
A Magellan Meridan -can- be plugged in via USB, but I leave it disconnected
most of the time.
An HP Rewriter is also installed.
I am using a Belkin 7 port USB hub for the USB attachments.

I have two movie DVDs.

Both seem to load the initial parts, but then afterwards just seems to
stop. I took the computer to a computer store and asked the tech to take
the DVD out and put in another machine, and see if it would play. I was
surprised to hear that it did. He put it in Win 98 machine. (I don't know
if it was the SE ver or not. I did not ask.) And he also put in a machine
running Win2K. It needed a driver, but it ran fine.

I would tell you the name of the DVD player right now, except the front is
clear (no name), how would I determine the manufacturer?

It has a 300W power supply. This was recommended by the store to replace
the 250W power supply. I went through two 250W power supplies (both got
very hot) so a 300W was installed.

What do I need to check/do to help you help me? I really would like to play
some movies.

If emailing me off list is your preference, have at it. Please, though, put
this in the subject: DVD.

Thank you.

Robert
