Don,
    You could use the Mouse applet in Control panel to make the cursor at 
least tell you where it is whenever you press the CTRL key.  Look for a 
Pointer Options section on one of the tabs.  It won't make the cursor appear 
permanently, but at least you'll know if you're getting close to whatever 
you want to click.
