WinZip makes its own directory when you install it, so you can't really confuse it with the built-in XP zip handler. On the XP Zip program, I have no idea what its under, but its integrated into the OS, so it probably doesn't have a straight directory or such. With WinZip, when you install newer versions, if I remember correctly you should be able to install right into the old directory. If its creating a new directory and install on each installation, you have a problem there... not necessarily a major problem, but a problem none-the-less. I would use ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and get rid of ALL copies of WinZip and then reinstall the latest version you have again. Here's nothing to mess up, so I wouldn't fear that. ---Troth -----Original Message----- From: pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:pctechtalk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Joyce Sent: Wednesday, March 02, 2005 5:13 PM To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: Create a SAFER Recycle Bin! I have Win XP Pro but I did a WinZip search anyway and I found 22 files all the way from just WinZip, to WinZip 8,8.1,9 and 32.Should I be getting rid of all those except for the latest one which I assume is vers. 9? Or am I likely to mess up and get rid of the wrong one if I start messing around with those? And what does Win XP call its built in zip file? Is it likely to be one of those 22 I found?
