You may possibly be able to fix the problem if its an issue with the burner...
by going to the manufacturer's website and trying to download up-to-date
firmware. Might help, might not... but, worth trying.
Other than that, my mind is still working, and I'm still reading (your post,
responses, etc)... I'll see if I can think of anything else and post back.

Useless Info #1... I use the same burner at work.
:o)

| Hopefully someone can help me out with this problem, already wasted a bunch
| of CDs.
| OS is XP Pro, AMD AthlonXP 2100+, 256MB of ram. Nero 5.5.8.1
|
| I put a blank CD in and the drive spins and spins and spins some more. I
| start Nero and select the files to burn, everything seems to go along just
| fine. Then when I tell it to burn this is what the message window in Nero
| says:
|
| ISO1 (Mode 1) 75:07.46
| CD-ROM (ISO) 660MB
|
| 11:24:35 PM Optorite CD-RW CW4002
|  ExacLink activated
| 11:24:40 PM Cashing of files started
| 11:24:41 PM Cashing of files completed
| 11:24:41 PM Burn process started at 32x (4,800 KB/s)
| 11:24:45 PM Optorite CD-RW CW4002
|  No seek complete
|
| It gets to 3% then ejects the CD, at this point I now have a CD icon
| blinking next to the mouse pointer, it follows the pointer where ever I move
| it. Nero is now froze and when I close the CDRW drawer the access light
| (green one) stays lit. I kill Nero through the Task Manager and the access
| light still stays on and the CD icon is still with the pointer. To get rid
| of this problem I have to reboot.
|
| I've done this with IMAPI disabled, running but set to manual and also on
| automatic, no difference. The CDRW I've had for awhile but have hardly used
| it until now. It worked fine but now has developed this problem. I've had
| this happen with a couple different brands of CDs.
|
| While trying to burn I shut everything not needed off, i.e. the firewall,
| antivirus and all other running programs. I leave the required
| programs/services and Nero run.
|
| My CD Rom is set as Master and the CDRW is Slave, the only time I basically
| use the CDRW is to burn, all other discs go in the CD Rom.
|
| Hopefully I can get this figured out, got over 12GB I'd like to burn to free
| up space on the hard drive. The system partition is 20GB with 13GB free and
| the stuff I want to burn is on a different partition.
|
| TIA
