Hi
I have what I think is a major problem.

Background

I have a home network of three computers and a network printer (yes with a NIC
card).

Computer No1 is a dual boot with Windows 98se and Win2k.

Computer No 2 is a Sony Laptop with XP Pro

Computer No 3 is a desktop with XP Home

Printer is HP Photosmart 3210

DSL Netgear DG384 Router with built in Modem

Problem:

Sometime last night Computer No 2 stopped accessing the Internet and the
network printer. We had a rainstorm and I do not remember any lightening and/or
thunder. Computer No 2 was only one on. I have tried accessing with the
browser, email and other assorted links, all to no avail.

I do not get the little box that I normally get that says it wants me to give
password, etc to log on to my Google account during boot up.

I get a message box concerning my printer that says "HP Digital Imaging
Monitor" And further states it has encountered a problem and needs to close.

When I try to access the Internet through Internet explorer I get "page cannot
be displayed" message. When I try to get my email I get notified that "The
connection to the server has failed" on all accounts.

What I have done to try to resolve the problem:

I unplugged the router to reset it. Computer No 2 still cannot access the
Internet or printer. Computer No 1 & 3 can access the Internet and printer. I
get no error messages of any kind when the computer boots.

I exchanged Cat 5 cables with computers No 1 & 2 and I switched the cable ports
in the router. Computer No 1 could get out on the Internet and Computer No 2
still could not. So cables are ok and Router is functioning ok.

Problem is now in Computer No 2. Computer seems to be functioning ok other then
it will not access the Internet.

Solution:

I need a solution. Hopefully one that does not involve Wiping the HD clean and
restarting from scratch.

Life is what happens in between plans.
