Here's a more-detailed explanation of the problem(s) that my father-in-law
is experiencing. Of course, I'm not there to see exactly what is happening,
so I'm at a loss. Any ideas that you guys might have? Your assistance
would be appreciated.

Your friend,

Larry

Dear Larry, This summary of my Adobe Reader problems is my attempt to stick
to essentials, and also to try to find my way through some details where the
status may have changed during this period.

The basic difficulty is that Adobe Reader fails to print the screen when I
ask it to. It just reports one blank page with one line of identification on
it. This started about the time I adopted the updated program Adobe Reader X
in December. I also had trouble running Foxit and had to remove it because
it prevented the downloads from some sites from working.

The print problem exists when using Browsers Mozilla Firefox and Opera but
Adobe printing does work using Internet Explorer. I avoid using IE because
I do not like it. I use Opera as my default because Firefox does not
display the screen correctly. The problem appears when using either the HP
Laser Jet or the HP Office Jet Printer.

I can work around this problem by saving the screen to a new folder on the
Desktop called Adobe Downloads. I then open the file from that Desktop
folder and print it out OK. But this means I have to recognize when to save
the screen to the folder. I am wasting a lot of time and paper in this
process.

When I try printing direct from the original screen, and it returns a blank
page, I then find that the file appears in the Printer queue as in process.
If I try to close the computer using "Hibernate", it returns a message that
it cannot put the computer into hibernation because the spooler is running,
and I should try to close that down. It does not tell me how, but if I
delete the jobs in the queue, I can then go into hibernation.
