[pchelpers] Word Perfect / gibberish

This is a question someone that uses Word Perfect asked me. I don't have it or
use it so I am asking the list for help.
When they save a WP document to their documents, then go open it, the document
is now in computer gibberish.
I was wondering if maybe they have accidentally set it to open with something
other that WP. <But have not idea>
What would YOU suggest?
