Yes, but Eric, in the email i sent out, it said that *by the deadline*, the
next in line needs to reply to email if they are declining or taking the
event. No one replied. Therefore, they are declined, because in this case,
no answer is Not Doing the event.
As far as individual emails, it was easier to do an email to all members at
one time, and give 5 team members deadlines, rather than wait for the first
person to decline, then ask the next person on the list, wait for them to
decline, then ask the next.
The idea isn't to waste time. It is to fill the position quickly.
Especially if the event is only a few days away. This event is over a
month, so we have time to discuss it.
But the email went out. The 5 members contacted did nothing to reply. And
the email said if no one signs up, we will open up signups to the next in
line, that's Don. There were no signups from the first 5 members and there
was no reply either way.
Now if all members are watching their emails and they see something come in
they want to do, they need to reply as to if they can do it or not and / or
sign up on the site. I"m not asking for more than a yes or NO. I am asking
to know if anyone contacted wants the event.
If a member didn't see the email in time, that isn't my fault. I sent out a
notice a few days prior to the actual sign up start, and so those
interested should have been watching for the email and tracking the
progress in the forum thread. I put all emails in the forum thread, as well
as through email. So, a member doesn't get the email for some reason, they
know that there was an email sent out and that's when they should pop into
the list serv and make sure they are still getting the emails for events
through the Star Tours List Serv.
So, i think it was done fairly. However, I do open it up to* 3 members
voting we redo the sign up*, and then i will do it that way. But if 3
members don't reply and let me know to redo the sign up, we are going with
what we have already set up. The deadline for this vote will be *end of day
today*. I will look for the results tomorrow morning in my email.

Going forward, the events will be listed as "New Paid Event" in the subject
line of your email. Probably without the Quotes... and then that is when
the sign up date will begin and to be fair, all signups will happen on Week
Days only. So, on a Friday, Sat or Sun, you may get an email stating we are
starting sign ups for an event, and then on Monday, for 24 hours, there
will be a sing up fest. Go sign up, and using the Rotation list, I will
then plug those who can do the event into the approved list. If you can
also sign up as BU, list it that way as well. Like the example i sent out
earlier today. Your sign up could be like "Terri 8" and I can do BU scope."
That tells me you want the position and if you can't get it this time
around, you will take BU Scope. I will remind everyone about this when the
next sign up becomes availble. Please, make the deadline. Don't look for
individual emails only.

So, that's the changed plan because of the somewhat misunderstanding about
how to sign up for events.
Now the other thing i want to remind everyone is that you HAVE to do 4
freebee events for the public between Jan 2017 and Aug 31 2018. Why a year
and a half? Because I feel it isn't fair if you haven't had time to squeeze
in 4 events where you are a big part of the event. I dont' mean attend and
do nothing, or attend and not help out. I mean where you are actively
participating wither with a scope, a demo, helping at the PAS table,
helping to watch Mike's meteorites and be runner at the same time, etc.
Attending and just standing or not conversing with the pbulic, or not being
helpful and watching the PAS Table, will not be accepted. And these have to
be Public events. Private events for free do not count. That is also why
i'm mentioning this to everyone now. Mike's events, unless open to the
public, do not count as a freebee event.
So, an example of accepted events where by you could be considered helping
at a Public event with or without your scope:
Bookmans Telescope Workshop: help a member of the public with their scope -
or in Leah's case, give advice on what books to get to help with the hobby.
Bookmans Sidewalk Event: If you have a scope bring it, or help Mike Watch
his Meteorites, or help me with demos, promoting the club, etc. To assist
MIke, you must RSVP as Mike's helper because there will be a limit of ONE
Helper for Mike / event.
A Free event at Bookmans: Same as above Bookmans requirements
BMC: Bring your scope, or again, help Mike watch his meteorites (only 1
watcher to be scheduled), or help at the PAS table promoting the club
(actively talking about club events and reasons why membership is a good
idea).
Astro Day: Doesn't matter where this event is set up, same as above.
Leprecon: 3 hours minimum helping Mike with meteorite watching, promoting
PAS at PAS table, or bring a scope.
Comicon: Same as Leprecon
Rancho Gabriela Career Day: Bring your Solar Scope, or Moon scope is moon
is availble, helping watch Mike's meteorites, or helping with Q&A and demos
at PAS table.
Events that do not count towards your 4 required freebee events in a year
are:
Any event you receive $$ for in the amount of $30+. Why $30? Because that
is the least
amount of $$ we charge for an event per scope. Career Day at Rancho
Gabriela is a reimbursement for gas, and so the $10 you make from doing
this event is not counted as paid. Tips are also not included in the Paid
category.
I will be updating the FREEBee events everyone has done thus far. If your
Freebee event square is RED, you might want to make sure you get another
event done. Once it is green, i won't add more dates, we will just use the
first 4 i run across as being counted for your required 4 freebee events.
You have over a year to accomplish this, for THIS year, but once Sept 2018
comes around, the tally starts again and you only have a year, from Sept 1
to Aug 31 to get your 4 freebees done for the year.
Any additional perks such as Bookmans Credit, Free access to ASC, or other
perks, if not paid in excess of $30 cash or check, are considered freebee.

Don't know if Pete unsub'd or not, but since he wasn't on the list,
maybe we should redo the notice and start this sign up again.
If i have 3 votes to redo the sign ups, I will offer this event up again
but we will do it the way i
mentioned about future events. Everyone will sign up,
and in the order of the rotation list, they will be plugged into the event.

the event, sign up, and from them, in the order of the Rotation List, I
will place the signed up scopes. It might be easier and take less time.
But for this event, we have set up this way of doing it, and so, let's

William will do this event, but in case he can't, I need back up scopes
ready to take this event.
Plantar Fasciitis <http://kingbrand.com/Plantar_Fasciitis_Treatment.php> is
a rough thing to deal with and having to stand for an hour+ at an event.
So, i need back up scopes on hand for this event, in case he needs to
decline attendance. We should always have back up scopes for every event.
You can never predict what might change the status of someone attending an
event.
Approved scopes so far are:
1) Terri 8"
2) William 10"
3) Mike with Meteorites

On Monday, Howard may sign up to do this event. Howard will have to the
end of day Monday to sign up. Start now!
If Howard is declining doing this event, Howard, please send back an email
saying you are not doing the event so the process can move to the next in
line and go put your RSVP in the calendar as "NO," Please.
You might ask why I'm waiting until Monday for the deadline of the first
person to sign up... It is because some people, like me, do not access
their email if they don't need to, on the weekends. So, we will be fair and
have everyone have a deadline that starts on Monday or after. This event
isn't until September. We have the time to do it this way.
If Any Star Tour Member is declining doing this event, go *mark your RSVP
as "NO" right now*. This helps in the process.
So the schedule is:
By *Monday June 12*: I need to hear from *Howard*, by End of day.
Take the event or decline. Put your RSVP in as "YES" and what scope you
are providing, or "NO." If you are replying with "NO," then the Tuesday
people need to be ready to sign up. I would suggest that everyone in the
below list of 5 Star Tour Members, be ready to sign up, if you plan to sign
up, in case the Member before you declines.
If Howard declines the event:
By end of day on *Tuesday June 13*: I need to hear from Christine.
So, the plan is, eveyrone gets 24 hours to reply, but today, if Howard
declines and gets the email out to everyone and marks the calendar with
"NO," as requested above, then Christine can jump in there and add her
status. Here's the schedule of sign ups, in case it takes the whole 24
hours per person to sign up. I am hoping for a quick sign up.
