I am currently in Phoenix, but for Saturday night parties I can't start driving (or even packing up) till the Sabbath is over - which is currently around 8:30 pm.  that means that I could be at this star party no earlier than around 9:30.  would that be helpful? or not?  (I realize that due to the weather it might not take place, but just saying if...)

if I do come, I would recommend that I would  bring my binoculars and tripod, rather than my scope (because I would probably need to park farther away. also my binos are quicker to pack and go.)  at a public star party, the advantage of using binos is to show people how much they can see with simple, inexpensive equipment. i.e. I wouldn't be showing deep sky objects, but things like star clusters; and giving sky tours (constellations) with a laser pointer

Good afternoon PAS members,

Mike's party is looking busy with public, but lacking
attending telescopes.

I'm adding the RSVP's to the forum thread.

I haven't given up on this event, even with the forecasts saying that Fri and Sat will be 40% rain. I know that a chance of rain of 20% means nothing here in Arizona, but anything above 20% and it is possible that rain will happen.

I'm hoping to receive a Weather update from anyone monitoring the weather for Saturday morning and input from Mike as to if the ground is ok for scopes, parking, etc.

We do have quite a few RSVP's from the public.
I won't confirm their attendance or give them the address until we know we are holding the event (Saturday morning).

But if we dont' have any scopes signed up to attend by
Thursday night, I would say we should cancel the event
as we dont' have scopes to show the public anything
fun in the night sky.

So, your deadline to sign up to attend this event will be Thursday night... please, plan to attend.

I see that Don wants to attend, but needs a ride, and is wanting to check out the adjustments he made on his scope.

If the sky is clear enough, i might bring my new scope to give
it an alignment and test run. I'm sure Sara Jane Smith would like to get out of her expensive protective case soon.

Let's have a party!
