I wish I could be there...I am getting a lot of work done on my scope and
it is working the best it has in years. Today I adjusted the RA axis and
was able top reduce the play in it to 1/4 of what it was. The axis wiggled
maybe 1/2 degrees before (which you could see as well as feel), now you
cannot see it move and can just barely feel it move. I am very pleased with
the progress I am making. Tomorrow I am going to get rid of the duck tape
holding the Dec motor housing together. I bought a set of allen wrenches
and I am going to take the bolts out of an old motor I have and take 1 of
those to Ace and buy new bolts for the Dec motor.
Last week I made a set of Wilcox rings so I can rotate the scope in the
mount to position the eyepiece to a comfortable position. Wilcox rings
allow the scope to be loose enough in the rings to rotate freely but not
move up and down in the rings so the balance stays the same.
I got the new handbox controller and updated it to the latest firmware, so
now I have 2 good ones again.

for Saturday morning and input from Mike as to if the ground is ok for

We do have quite a few RSVP's from the public.
I won't confirm their attendance or give them the address until we know we
are holding the event (Saturday morning).
But if we dont' have any scopes signed up to attend by
Thursday night, I would say we should cancel the event
as we dont' have scopes to show the public anything
fun in the night sky.
So, your deadline to sign up to attend this event will be Thursday
night... please, plan to attend.
I see that Don wants to attend, but needs a ride, and is wanting to check
out the adjustments he made on his scope.
If the sky is clear enough, i might bring my new scope to give
it an alignment and test run. I'm sure Sara Jane Smith would like to get
out of her expensive protective case soon.
