When I lived in the Midwest, I put a nylon sock on the end of a gutter and
collected some that way. I also heard that you eat 3-4 micrometeorites in each
salad that you have. Yum!

Subject: [pasmembers] Micro Meteorites
I was reading some posts and came across this novel (to me) way to collect
magnetic micro meteorites:
Set a high-walled, clean tray of water outside for a while. (No one said for
how long, but a week seems reasonable to me.)
Tie a string to a large magnet (like from an old speaker) and wrap a plastic
bag around it tightly. This will keep its exposure to water to a minimum, and
help in the collection process. Drag the magnet all around the bottom of the
tray.
Inside, remove the magnet and place the plastic bag on a multi-layer paper
towel. Wipe the bag all over the paper. This will transfer any micrometeorites
from the bag to the paper, as well as absorb any water.
When the water is evaporated, examine the paper under a microscope. You may see
tiny magnetic beads, micro meteorites from space!

This sounds really cool - I may try this myself,
