The 28th for Mars could be at Mike's since his place is a darker site and
we could see other objects. I would open it up to the public on our website
with rsvps but not a press release to keep the numbers controlled because
of parking.
People should realize that Mars will be closest to Earth the latter part
of May, but still about 46 million miles. It will be July 2018 when it will
be over 10 million miles closer.

May 14th offers a half (1st quarter) moon, almost high in the sky when

Mars won't change appreciably in size or distance for a few weeks on
either side of opposition. So choosing a night without interference from
the Moon should be possible without losing detail in the Mars viewing.
Just wondering if that had been considered.
