Thanks Pete. This was very interesting and scary. It did not look like any
buildings were burned. The fire was very close. I suspect some of the
equipment and telescopes may have been damaged by smoke and maybe heat.

This still picture shows the backside of one of the larger domes at the
site.  There are six domes, the largest housing a 3 meter scope. At one
time Lick had the largest refractor observatory in the world at 36 inches
and was the first observatory built on a mountain top (Mt. Hamilton, east
of San Jose, CA.)
