Hard to believe but January is gone already. I'm not at all sure if I
accomplished anything at all because I forgot everything I did yesterday
and before. I only remember what I didn't do when I trip over something
and then remember that I had planned to do that. One thing that I actually
do remember is that I need to send out my show list for the month.
Actually I received an email asking if they had missed February's
presentation list. I take this as a positive sign that some of you out
there find my presentations worth your time and energy to attend.
Now I am also a realist and do understand that some things take precedent.
Because of the Super Bowl I doubt I will have any programs on the first
weekend. At least I've never had any response on those days before so why
fight it. The stars in the sky are obscured by the stars of the gridiron,
besides, the commercials are really good.
The rest of the month is a different story.
For those of you new to the planetarium and night sky, my intro show "The
Introduction To The Planetarium And The Night Sky This Month" will run on
Saturday February 11th at 1 and 3 pm.
A look at some of the winter constellations, "The Jewels Of The Winter Sky"
will run on Saturday February 18th at 1 and 3 pm and on Sunday the 19th at
1 pm.
A new program, "Images Of The Infinite" a look at the Hubble Space
Telescope and some of the spectacular images that have been returned will
be presented on Saturday February 25th at 1 and 3 pm as well as Sunday the
26th at 1 pm.
As usual, please RSVP with number of seats required, date, and time of show
requested. Please don't just ask for seats unless your sure people
actually want to come. I had a request for 15 seats for a show last month
which "sold out" and I had to turn folks away. Unfortunately not one of
the group of 15 showed up. To be fair they did cancel a few at a time
until the last day and some of the turned away because of the "sell out"
were still able to come. Now I'd be the first to admit that not everyone
would want to listen to me go on and on about things and I would expect a
certain number of no shows, but I would expect a few to show up. All I'm
asking is if you request seats, at least be sure there is interest
beforehand. OK, off my soapbox.
Please also remember that "The Star Barn" is a "primitive" facility
*without* bathroom facilities. Please plan accordingly.
Also if you no longer wish to receive these updates, just return an
email with
"delete" in the subject line and you will be banished forever.
Also if you reserve seats for a show and can't make it, please cancel at
least by the day before and if you want seats please also decide at least
by the day before. It is no fun setting up for a show and then having no
one come.
A final also, please be on time as opening the door after everyone is dark
adapted is really hard on the eyes. Once a show starts, no one will be
admitted.
