It should be made official today that my husband has been chosen as the new president of Centralia Community College. We are extremely excited about this new adventure in our lives! However, this means that I will be leaving my position as Librarian of Port Angeles HIgh School at the end of this school year. My position has already been reduced by two periods a day (out of six), one to teach history and one as a planning period. I do not know if my departure will cause the district to eliminate the high school LIbrarian position altogether. Since this may have an impact on other area Libraries, I wanted to announce my departure as soon as possible. I feel sad to leave just when area libraries have begun to communicate with each other! I do not plan to work in the area of school libraries again, unless I find a district that truly treasures their school libraries with the belief that a quality LIbrary program greatly impacts student learning. I do have a M.A. in Library Science from the University of MIchigan which is an accredited ALA school, and my dream job would be doing MARC records - I love solving the challenge that this presents!
