Obama conned many of us. Like Bill Clinton, he charmed his way into office. I
thought he really meant he would unite the country, then watched him jam his
health care bill down everyone's throats. The charm wore off fast. Possible
that he simply conned Powell also, but I agree the race triumphed all for black
voters at that point and probably still.

I met him once in the 1990s and asked him to run. Then he supported Obama in
2008 and I lost all, and I mean all, respect for the man. If he couldn't see
through Obama's severe pathologies and frankly evil, his judgment was fatally
flawed. It was my first inkling that in the 21st century in the US, race trumps
all other considerations.

Sad, but not unexpected, to see him go. A great American. Too bad George didn't
listen to him instead of Cheney and keep us out of Iraq. Powell walked the walk
and talked the talk. Two tours in Vietnam, multiple highly responsible National
positions successfully filled, etc.
