Doug, it's about time you stopped reading history. Otherwise how will it repeat
itself?

Subject: [pa64] Bret Baier: 3 Days at the Brink (FDR's daring gamble to win
WW2), 3 Days in January ( Dwight Eisenhower's final mission), 3 Days in Moscow
(Ronald Reagan and the fall of the Soviet Empire)
These 3 books span my generation's political life and are a worthy read
down memory lane. There are no new revelations, but a intimate insight into
inner working of the White House in 3 different administrations giving an
apologetic spin on how things developed.
Although there is nothing really new, it smooths out the partisan rancor to
give a sympathetic understanding of our history. Partisan anger is not new,
but as you reflect back on how far we have come, you can see perhaps more
clearly that our "ship of State" has weathered many a storm and still sails
true.
I enjoyed reading these 3 books and advise that you read them sequentially to
understand the" Cold War". FDR, Eisenhower, Reagan and Bush are featured and
understood in an intimate way that brings it alive. It is a nice background to
understanding Russia in the current context perhaps.
This was part of my Christmas gift reading from my sister
