YESSSSSSS! Just heard tonight in an out-of-hours message from my manager after
weeks of radio silence – my application to work from Perth has been approved
subject to another person agreeing to desk-share with me. Desk sharing is
actually against policy at the moment because of covid, but when I spoke with
this other person a couple of weeks ago she seemed to agree it was crazy not to
desk share under the circumstances (she’s only in the office one day a week) so
it shouldn’t be an issue.
Soooooo I think we’ll aim to leave here in just over 3 weeks. We’ll drive back
across. We LOVE the road trip! We hope to be back in time for the final
inspection for the little unit we’ve bought some distance outside of the city.
It was very cheap and not ideal, nor is it a nice area, but it will be OURS.
That will be amazing. After being unemployed for 5 years and losing our
previous house – and pretty much everything – I never thought we’d be able to
do this at my age and on my salary.
I just cannot wait to be settled!

Looks great, Steve. I love lamb shoulder (and any lamb, for that matter) but
can’t justify it for the two of us – I'm looking forward to the
as-yet-undefined day we’ll be back in Perth to have family and friends over
