My top bar/Warre hives have a quilt box with shavings (on the top cloth),
surrounded by my husband's old lambswool jumpers (the ones which he likes
have a tendency to wear at the elbow!) and then I have also put roofing
insulation into a pillow slip to finish off! It's all breathable and they
do fine. You could choose any of those I guess.
