[OMB] Kingsport Oktoberfest 2013 Highlights

Hello OMB!
I just wanted to send out a quick note about the festivities at Oktoberfest
and the Black Forest Brew Off, this past Saturday.
OMB member, Brian Connatser has recently announced he will be opening Sleepy
Owl Brewery <http://sleepyowlbrewery.com/> in downtown Kingsport (much more
info coming soon). This location was actually in the Oktoberfest bier
garden, and OMB was able to have a tent right outside. The public response
to Overmountain Brewers and to Sleepy Owl was absolutely overwhelming. The
crowds plowed through every bit of beer that we had, 7 kegs total !!!
Also, OMB had a great showing at the Black Forest Brew Off. This was a BJCP
competition and had entries from throughout the southern region.Check out

Here's a quick summary:
John McGill - 2nd place in the Belgian category with Velvet Hammer, a Biere
de Garde. This was an absolute crowd favorite.
Brent Dingus - 1st place in the Belgian Category with his Flanders Brown.
Brent Dingus - 1st place in Hoppy Ales with an American IPA.
Brent Dingus - 2nd place Best of Show for the American IPA
Brent Dingus - Peoples choice for best beer name - I love it when you call
me Big Hoppa (Chosen One remix), for his American IPA.
Congratulations to John and Brent!!
I hope everyone who attended had as much fun as I did. I want to say THANK
YOU to everyone who showed up to represent Overmountain Brewers. With your
help this club was well represented and I look forward to the next event!
