Hi Kev,
A good friend of my family's is in her 80's and has had a couple of knee
replacement surgeries, and I have a sister-in-law whose knee has been replaced
a couple of times. 12 weeks does sound about right, but I think recovery time
depends on the individual and on how well that person is following the
therapist's instructions. Our family friend tried to overdo it in terms of
trying to move her knee harder than she should have too early in the game and
ultimately lengthened the time it took for her to recover. In my
sister-in-law's case, she could not bear any weight on the knee for quite
awhile and for some reason didn't use a walker. Don't know the circumstances
as she's in Virginia.

Hi, Kevin,
I think my dad recovered in 12 weeks if I remember correctly.

Well have been doing my exercises, and waiting for the physical therapist to
call and set up times when he or she can come out to the house. I’m getting
around on the walker pretty well. I put ice on my leg at least once, or
maybe twice a day. The only bad thing is the nights. I can’t get
comfortable, and even though I’ve taken pain meds, I still toss and turn and
don’t sleep well. They say that full recovery takes around 12 weeks.
Thought I’d get the other knee taken care of, but I think i’ll wait till i
can’t handle the pain in my right knee before I go through this again. But
basically I’m doing okay. You are subscribed to Ourplace (
