Dear Friends and Family in the Lord: Wow! We are here in Cheyenne. We are looking for housing and meeting with the ministry staff this afternoon. It has been an interesting summer and so very busy. I am so sorry to have written you so few updates. It is not for lack of news. Two weeks ago, on our way to Mission, South Dakota to work on the Rosebud Indian Reservation, we were already feeling oppressed. Tim, who is usually really excited about new ministry opportunities didn't even want to go. He had decided to stay at camp for the week. I didn't feel good about that and encouraged him to come. About 90 minutes from our destination at about 9:00 p.m. the engine on our truck blew. You can imagine our frustration. My dad, who lives two plus hours from there came to pick us up and a tow truck was called for the truck and trailer (To the tune of $925.00. Yikes!) The estimate at the Ford dealer there was $5,000 for a new engine installed. Meanwhile, new friends there lent us a car and helped us get our trailer where we needed it on the reservation. When the rest of our team from One Way arrived, we were also told that the venue we were to use was not available. There was a church building available, but many of the Lakota would not come to a church. We began to pray earnestly that God would direct where we went. We felt He really wanted us at the original site, and went back to try to secure it. God is faithful and we met there with the blessing of a tribal leader. It was a very hard week. We visited door to door inviting and encouraging. We held seven meetings in 5 days plus one at our sponsoring church on Sunday morning. We have found the Lakota to be a very proud and somewhat wary people. You have to earn their trust and it is not very easy to do. The children are beautiful and fun, but also skeptical. They seem to add the gospel to the other beliefs they have and they don't always add up to a pure gospel. Please pray with us that the Lord will grant His Holy Spirit to help them sort out the truth from the rest in the hearts and minds of the new believers there. We plan to return there, and One Way hopes to one day establish a full time missionary there in Mission. The enemy will oppose this, as he seems to enjoy a stronghold there. Pray we will remain faithful to God's vision. Meanwhile, the friends in our sponsoring church off the reservation were trying to find a better deal for our truck. They found a mechanic who had an engine that would fit it on the floor of his garage (courtesy of an unfortunate hunter who had shot a hole in the header accidentally last hunting season.) They got busy picking up our vehicle and getting it together with the engine and mechanic who would install it. These incredible brothers and sisters had done all the leg work and then paid for the repairs as well. When we were ready to leave the area for Cheyenne, the truck was, as well. Thank you so much to our friends from the Carter and Pine Bluffs churches. And thank you to you who were praying all this time for our needs to be met. And thank you to our Lord Jesus, from whom all good things come. We are still in need of housing. We have not been approved for a loan because we will not have established income with One Way for a year that banks would look at as consistent. We will be renting and we are praying for a house that we looked at today. It would be great for us, but the owner has many many people who feel the same. The timing is hard because he wants to make his decision after it would be too late for Tim and Evan to help us move in. Pray we find favor and fast. If it's not the one, pray God would shut the door. Thanks so much. We found a lovely church home Sunday, and will stay there for the time being. Nate is finding friends in the youth group as well. Pray that we get Evan and Tim to school safely this week in Michigan and Kansas. There are a lot of funds involved in that, like insurance, fuel to drive them, incidentals when we get there, etc. Please pray that God stretches our funds there as well. Wow! That's a lot of praise, and a lot of requests! I'm so glad God can handle it. Write when you have a chance. We thank you all for your prayers. God bless you, Linda, Vic, Tim, Evan, and Nate http://www.otbusa.org To unsubscribe, send a blank e-mail to otb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field.
