It really is very good. Not to be missed.
OK , I might be a bit prejudiced as a member, and yes, I did appear, in person,
personally, live on tv, three times.. ( boast, boast) for several seconds each
time, as part of the publicity, but after saying all that, then, why, it is a
good show. Lots of interesting exhibits.
A big display of orchids bred by our founder and (late) President, Keith
Andrew, grown now by a guy who inherited them, and who is a great cultivator .
Many I covet, and have never seen before. Keith was anti-meristem, and I won’t
go into the history of all that.
A very good display by Burnham, of cymbidium flowers too. Trade displays
includingOrchis from Taiwan, from the Stanhopea NationalCollection, and several
others.
This morning they had to open a second entrance into the show, because the
queue wound through the gardens out of sight. There were still a hundred in the
queue when I came away at 11.30...I shall look forward to seeing the show
better in the private view and cocktail time tonight- but entrance only by
ticket, and ticket sales closed a couple of weeks away.
But I expect tomorrow to be quieter - local residents (Christchurch) are 55%
retired ( the highest proportion anywhere in UK) and mostly seem to favour lazy
Sundays.... no one joins me on my weekly half-marathon, ha-ha...
Show open 10-4.30.
