Does anybody use or have experience with using multiple Service Names for your database? Is this a normal thing people do?
If you ever go to the MultiTenant architecture in 12c (whether you use the option or not, meaning that even Standard Edition is included ...) you will find it mandatory to use services, and indeed at least one service per pluggable database.

If you ever want to use Resource Manager, which can assign a session to a consumer group based on service (and/or user, IP, host, etc.) you will want to consider multiple services.

If you ever want to use RAC to it's fullest, and do resource and avaiablility management in the multi-instance RAC environment you will find multiple services invaluable.

It is a normal thing to have multiple services.

That said, it does require some thought when dealing with standby or restored clones, as you observe.
