OEM? OEM as in "Oracle [Expletive] Manager"? As far as self-tuning-database marketing phrases, haven't you heard about the "paperless office"? It was IBM's favorite terminology in the 1970's. This was an incredible boost for the paper industry. The advent of printers has been the best thing that has ever happened to the paper industry. Our paperless offices are sinking under the sheer weight of printouts. Having that in mind, as a senior Oracle DBA, I am looking forward to "self tuning database". My job can be renamed to "Director of Information and Office Technology" and with mandatory "e-" in front be abbreviated to "e-DIOT", but I will still be doing the same thing. PS: --- In case that anybody needs a clarification, "e-DIOT" comes from Dilbert. That, of course, was the shiny new title for the PHB. -- Mladen Gogala A & E TV Network Ext. 1216 > -----Original Message----- > From: Joel Garry [mailto:joelgarry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Friday, October 29, 2004 1:34 PM > To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re[2]: That crazy CBO..... > > > Jonathan Gennick wrote: > > >I'd argue that Oracle should fix it.
