During the last user group meeting in London a presenter stated that as well. 
Streams will remain in place, but in a frozen state. A bit like advanced 
replication which has been frozen yet available.

Streams will be supported... It just won't be enhanced. All the R&D will be put 
into the Golden Gate product set.

I  see they have a certification for STREAMS  in 11g. doesn't seems to be
something that is going to be desupported.
