I think Brando is slimming down a LOT lately.

I spent several years as Java programmer as part of my vast array of Oracle
"duties." PHP 5 is the future of web development in my humble opinion.
Several of my more venerable Java programming friends are moving in this
direction yet even prior to this have spoken highly of ASP .NET. I have
limited experience with .NET but respect their opinions despite the fact I
still believe IIS was created to sharpen the programming skills of future
elite hackers.

Another plus as compared to Java: PHP doesn't create that hardcore open
source extremism where J2EE enthusiasts declared a jihad on proprietary
Oracle features, for example, in favor of database agnostic applications
they finally realized wouldn't scale. Java was/is the culprit in creating
this subculture which violently opposed both PL/SQL stored procedures or
such features as Oracle partitioning as "proprietary. As much as I am a fan
of open source I am not sure I would buy that Oracle RDBMS license if I was
going to insist on artificially embracing the limitations of MySQL.

PL/SQL and PHP 5 both offer the flexibility of OO support with the option to
knock-out a quick yet efficient procedural script or stored procedure. As of
Oracle 10G, the ability to leverage PL/SQL objects in full support of OO
including inheritance, polymorphism, and reuse is very impressive despite
the fact I don't expect to see it in real practice before I retire to
Brando's private island and try to get fatter than him.

I am not a strong Perl programmer but have heard many good things about it
for many, many years. I have noticed a Perl/PHP war starting to brew in the
past year, however. Personally, I only fight for love and to get my books
back from unseemly clients.

I have a great tool for dealing with Java people, and it is even signed by
Derek Jeter, so I can deal with them in a stylish and fashionable way.
