A few years ago I stood in a line of about 200 people in suits at TRW for an interview. You got a 1 minute or so Q&A followed by a, "We'll call you..." once you got to the head table. They went through the line repeatedly looking for people with a security clearance. When they found someone they pulled them out of the line and walked them into a separate conference area....I think they had coffee in there.... I think it's much easier to grab a kid getting out of the service who makes classified slides and train him to be a DBA than go the other route. I had a security clearance which expired when I went on an unclass project for more than two years. Bad move on my part. At age 51 I have too much 'splaining to do to want to go through the process again even if somebody was willing to sponsor me.
