Hi, Basically, you can't choose the codepage during installation. There are 2 versions of XE - one universal one with a multibyte unicode codepage and one with a LATIN1 codepage. So, you downloaded the universal. If you want an ISO8859P1 codepage - download the western european one: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xelinsoft.html cheers, Kurt >----- Oorspronkelijk bericht ----- >Van : Bobak, Mark [mailto:Mark.Bobak@xxxxxxxxxxxx] >Verzonden : donderdag , oktober 1, 2009 03:50 PM >Aan : ecandrietta@xxxxxxxxx, oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Onderwerp : RE: Install Oracle XE with character set WE8ISO8859P1 > >Is there some reason AL32UTF8 won't work for you? > >If your clients all use WE8ISO8859P1, just set NLS_LANG accordingly. > >And, in the future, if you want to support languages outside the scope of >WE8ISO8859P1, it won't be a problem. > >-Mark > >From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On >Behalf Of Eriovaldo Andrietta >Sent: Thursday, October 01, 2009 9:03 AM >To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: Install Oracle XE with character set WE8ISO8859P1 > >Hi friends, > > I installed Oracle XE and the tool did not show the screen for changing the > character set. > It installed automatically as below. > >NLS_CHARACTERSET > > AL32UTF8 > > Character set > > >I need to install with WE8ISO8859P1. > >What need I do in order the tool shows to me the screen where I can choose the >WE8ISO8859P1 ? > >Regards >Eriovaldo > > -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
