Hi.

No inside information here. The recent clarifications by Wim (over a
year after this thread started) confirm it is not End-Of-Life for OL
and SUSE.

I guess the point here is, unless Red Hat commit to maintaining ASMLib
for RHEL kernel versions (the same way SUSE do), ASMLib is End-Of-Life
for RHEL. That is quite significant if you are a RHEL user, rather
than an OL or SUSE users.

For many people, the advantages of using ASMLib over UDEV are marginal
to say the least. Having said that, if you are using UEK, then you
don't have to worry about a mismatch between the kernel version and
oracleasm kernel module anymore, so using ASMLib has become less
annoying.

You have a choice. You decide. :)
