Interestingly enough guys. I recently attended an ESRI Interna. =
conference. ESRI is in the lead for GIS systems and basically as a DBA =
I need to be able to load shapefiles, make transformations, etc. So I =
quickly realized that due to the nature of the ESRI products it was much =
easier and much safer to work over their framework. In fact, if you try =
to do things in the database it can break it. That is due to the =
catalogs and schema that ESRI maintains to object-orient the geographic =
database. =20
The next question was - what was the best way to do my automation - =
well, with the ESRI tools you can create a model and generate a script. =
The choices are VB or Phython.
So now I have 2 reasons to use Phython.

Perl db access is more sophisticated than python,
but as a language, dare I say it.... Python rulez!
