I agree that this instrument is a fine confocal specular microscope; however,
in my humble opinion, it’s overkill for anyone outside of an Academic/Research
division. Using it for stromal keratitis is an application not commonly
dealt with in a clinical setting. You may well be overpaying for features that
you will not use. I work in an Academic setting with esteemed corneal
specialists and even they felt it would not be warranted. Thus, we went with a
more clinically useful instrument.
I find either my Optovue or Heidelberg AS-OCT very useful for imaging and
documenting stromal abnormalities. Their rudimentary cursors are generally
enough to get the job done. One does not need to count individual precipitates
or measure their size in a clinical setting. It’s enough to image that they are
there, and that the stroma is thickened.
My two cents only

Greetings Optimal-land!
We are looking to retire our old specular microscope. I'm seeking advice from
any users regarding some of the newer models on the market.
Thank you!
