Same here, we rely on pt self-reporting. If the pt mentions that they are
"trying" to get pregnant and are mid-cycle, we defer and ask the pt to
report back after they "know".
FWIW - i believe that some clinical trials do require a negative pregnancy
test. I don't know how they implement that, but i know i've seen it in
recruitment protocols.

We rely on the patient. Your consent should include “to the best of my

If there’s any doubt or question, don’t do it.

Hi,
One of our retinal doctor asked me the other day regarding how we handle FA
in women of childbearing age. Do we just rely on patient's self-reported
negative pregnancy or do we use any different ways like asking the patient
to go through a test from the lab etc.
Your comment is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
