Director of Diagnostic Imaging (Ophthalmic Photographer) The Virginia Retina Center (VRC) General Description: The Virginia Retina Center is a multi-office vitreoretinal practice with 3 physicians currently recruiting motivated candidates to join our team in the Northern Virginia, Metro Washington DC area. The succesful Full-time applicant should be able to provide clinical and research related diagnostic ophthalmic images that are used for the management of patients with various vitreoretinal conditions. Multiple camera/imaging systems are employed in order to capture the required data. A specific outline of the position is as follows: Color retinal fundus photography; retinal fluorescein angiography; ICG angiography; slit lamp photography; intravenous injection of sodium fluorescein and indocyanine green dyes; external photography; ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT); B-scan ultrasonography, and automated visual field testing. Obtain imaging study certifications for national clinical research trials. Assist on research projects that require image documentation. Perform other duties as required including the following: training of ophthalmic technicians on photographic equipment, maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment, assist in PowerPoint & poster presentations for conference meetings, assist Physicians in journal article publications, prepare practice marketing materials, assist in patient information materials. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Certification by the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society (OPS) at the CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) level preferred. Minimum of 3 years ophthalmic photography /technology with two years experience in retinal angiography (OPS CRA requirements) preferred, previous experience in an ophthalmic environment required. CPR certification required. If not currently certified, must become and consistently maintain current certification. Failure to obtain certification may result in termination of employment. Must have ability to work closely with patients & staff in a clinical setting and must possess good organizational skills and the ability to multitask and to prioritize daily assignments to ensure smooth work flow. The ability to work independently at VRC satellite locations. Basic computer skills required. The ability to work with digital images, storage media, electronic transfer, etc. Individual initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision as well as assisting with various administrative duties within the practice.
