You did no such thing. You were arm-waving, with nothing to support your
proclamation. As I already demonstrated, that 5G service IS NOT looking like it
will increase competition among home broadband providers, BECAUSE it relies
entirely on the same fiber backhaul that now supports HFC and FTTH anyway. And
your best response to that was "duh." Only, you forgot that by saying "duh,"
you had just invalidated your previous proclamation of a huge increase in
competition.
The capital expenditures required remain large. It looks like 5G will only
allow those SAME companies to continue to expand, rather than give up as
Verizon and Google had done. You still won't see more than a couple in every
neighborhood. In short, let's wait for this "huge increase" in competition to
materialize, and THEN we can talk about repealing a neutrality mandate.
The Internet is filling up rapidly with competitive options to the
Cox MVPD bundle.
Yes, for many people, but only because Internet broadband service is neutral.
You again lost in your circular arguments, Craig. The reason that your much
beloved "the bundle" is unraveling is that people are bailing out. The reason
ESPN has to find other ways of reaching eyeballs is that people are bailing
out. And the reason people CAN bail out is that broadband access is mandated to
be neutral.
The only reason you can even hope to subscribe to some future Hulu pay service
is that Cox isn't allowed to block it.
But that situation was enabled by politicians
Bull sh*t. You have to stop making up these nonsensical narratives, Craig. You
have to learn what monopolies do and why. There was no other possible outcome,
when cable started operating. You were never going to see a dozen MVPDs
operating in every neighborhood, never mind multiple dozens. Costs are too
high. I'm still amazed that you hadn't figured this out long ago, and predicted
the outcome long ago. And never mind that you called it the "superior medium."
