I believe it's just two different delivery systems to the same database of content. I can log into the Comcast "Xfinity TV Go" website and either watch the content on my Linux workstation (with Flash player) or select "Watch on TV" and my old MPEG-2 STB fires up that selection automagically. There does seem to be some differentiation between online and STB, but it goes both ways. For example, "Anchorman 2" is available on STB, but not online. Do you have access to 250,000 programs as is the case with the IP service? The IP service is also available in some areas via apps on tablets and smartphones; clearly this is not QAM and MPEG-2.Regards CraigHere's what folks think of the X-1. http://forums.comcast.com/t5/X1/Returned-X1-For-Legacy-STB/td-p/2120618 Ron On 4/21/2014 5:51 PM, Craig Birkmaier wrote:Comcast is well ahead of the other MVPDs in terms of using IP to deliver VOD content and new services. I assume John is using the X-1 STB, although there are earlier generation boxes that provide access to X-Finity VOD.
