Let me ask you this: would you consider buying a TV set whose ATSC receiver was programmed to only accept, say, ABC and CBS? I wouldn't even consider it. Consumers are being lulled into thinking that Internet TV content to only come from a small number of by-subscription sites, just as they were lulled into thinking previously that you needed an MVPD subscription to get TV content. And if consumers march to that tune like lemmings, which they of course did in the past, the TV content owners will only be too happy to oblige. You know how the banks were trying to charge consumers for using bank cards, inane as that idea sounds? Consumers rebelled, and the banks had to rethink. We need that kind of backbone, from consumers, in these matters too.
