Holographic displays have little to do with augmented reality.
Let's go back:

"Instead of PowerPoint presentations taking place on a wall, the presented data
will be 3D, holographic and displayed in AR in the middle of the room or table."
Perhaps at some level, TV can look to this future. (Although I'm not sure how
one can create holograms of outdoor daytime scenes, except from simulating
these in a laser-lit studio.)
Why do I mention TV? Simple. Because Craig said:
While the TV industry continues to hang onto the past, technology
keeps transforming the competitive playing field.
Seems that TV can play a part in what I quoted from the article. Except that
holography, the real stuff, is not yet the general purpose imaging solution TV
needs. Still, it would be wonderful to have holographic displays for TV
content, at some point in the not-too-distant.
