Antonio-

When I did the Se Motivado with my students, I set it up for them to have some
time to come up with a list of their passions, interests and pasatiempos. Then
I told them that they just came up with a list of topics for their Se
Motivados! I introduced the activity as a way for my students to share with me
and their classmates ALLLL of who they are that they do not get a chance to
share in class. These were middle school students. I required that in addition
to the writing piece of se motivado, that they had to turn in a tangible thing.
Students did a lot of art, some brought in their favorite books, others made
jewelry, one brought in different balls- football, soccer ball, basketball- and
wrote different paragraph on each one of them about why he liked to play that
particular sport, some wrote a page to accompany a snowboarding video, some
wrote an entire story with the 10 different assignments each being a chunk of
it, some made comic strips, crossword puzzles, one girl made clothes!!! The
possibilities were endless when I put it into their hands!!

Patti-

I found that with middle school students doing transitions on the floor is
helpful. Small rooms can be a good thing...they help to keep the circle tight,
which is what we always want to strive for (less room for classroom management
issues!).

You guys rock!!
