At strange places and times, like 3:00am, ideas are occurring to me :)
1) First day for Level 2 students: AFter doing circle and a transition or
2, I will ask students to do a silent activity, no talking allowed.
Quietly, get out a sheet of paper and pen or pencil. Ask them to think of
any word they can remember from before summer, have them write it, think of
an action and draw a picture on the paper. I will then have them share and
repeat, transition and share and repeat making phrases along the way.
2) In teams of 3, students thumb through foreign language magazines looking
for an advertisement they are familiar with and can describe to the class.
They brainstorm words, phrases, descriptions and will then go before the
class to start descriptions without showing the ad. Floor opens up to a 20Q
type format where other students ask probing questions about the products
as they attempt to determine what is being advertised.
