I saw a road-killed TV at the Kuebler Bv exit to I-5 (south Salem) this
morning. The first ever (road-kill TV) for me. They're even rarer than
road-killed crows. I was struck by the large number of White Ibises scavenging
the grounds of Disney World, Orlando Fl when I was there in 2001. It was really
easy to study their blue eyes as they shared the picnic table.

At about 11:45 today I stepped out of a restaurant in urban south Eugene and
was astonished to see a vulture glide down Hilyard St. at 25th, dodge a
little traffic, touch down briefly in a driveway and then perch ten feet over
the sidewalk. It had spotted a dead squirrel in the street. I took a few
photos, ducked into Black Sun Books to tell the owner of my find, came back
out and the squirrel was gone from the center of this four-lane street. I
surmise that the vulture made another pass and carried it some short distance
out of sight.
I have never seen a vulture in such an urban setting in Oregon before.
Reminded me of the large ibises that lurk around fast-food places in Brisbane.
