Oddly, the best bird of the day was not the Tufted Duck, but the
Rough-legged Hawk. The Tufted Duck has been seen multiple seasons with
considerable predictability now. But in any 10 years of living and birding in
the county, I would miss Rough-leg 2 out of three years, maybe 3 out of 4.
Notable the group did not encounter Black Phoebe when visiting its two most
