Bob Fields was out in his yard ALL day since dawn and did not re-find the
S. Tanager. I stopped by for about an hour and saw lots of birds but the
tanager was not one of them. Birds of interest included Lesser Goldfinches
and many Townsend's Warblers. I am very confident that Bob did see a Summer
Tanager, just hope it will resurface in the New Years sometime? He said
that the YB Chat that overwintered in his yard a few years back, showed up
on the same exact day then was not seen for several days but then was there
through April. I have my fingers crossed it will be the same with the
tanager.
Merry 2016!

Bob Fields just called from Coos Bay and has what he thinks is a young
SUMMER TANAGER coming to his feeder. He has had some good feeder birds in
the past and the description sounded good, eliminating orioles & seed
eaters. He will try for photos. Details to follow.
Good birding,
