This fall, in September, while Dave Haupt and I were at Summer Lake WMA, we
noticed a flock of quite dark White-fronted Geese, and speculated that they
were Tule.
Both of us see tens of thousands of White-fronted Geese each year, living in
the Klamath Basin, and those were very different, noticeably darker than what
we encounter in the Klamath Basin.
Since I don't recall seeing that variation, I wonder if they bypass the Basin,
or is it that I'm occupied with work in the fall, not in the field enough, and
miss them if they do happen to pass through?

Wasn't aware many use Summer Lake as a stopoveron their way to central
California, since maps I've seenmake the flyway from Alaska look much more
direct.
