A hummer got one foot stuck to a metal wire this morning on my patio near his
feeder. He was buzzing frantically and finally hung nearly upside down when I
saw him. I took off my gloves to still him and covered his feet so they thawed.
Within a half minute he was free and flew off. The wire is about the thickness
of a clothes hanger, part of a plant stand. I covered it so he can't use it for
now -- it was 9 degrees at the time. Also saw a starling yesterday that
appeared to have a frozen foot that he couldn't use.
