P.S. Just to add a historical note:

The palest subspecies in the "Sooty" Fox Sparrow complex is the
"Shumagin" Fox Sparrow (subspecies unalaschensis).

According to the account given by Gabrielson & Jewett (1940), the
earliest Oregon specimen of Shumagin Fox Sparrow was collected in
Portland on November 7, 1912 -- almost exactly 103 years ago.

Two data points make a pattern, right? ;-)
