My father had a similar story about fruit bats in Australia. Lowlifes would
shoot fruit bats for entertainment, often only wounding them. Some of the
wounded were restored to health and returned to nature. These fruit bats
then visited their rescuers repeatedly, even bringing their offspring with
them.
