Today Kay Fagan, Irene Stewart, and I did Carol Karlen's long Yamhill County
Raptor Route. The route runs from McMinnville down to Grand Island, back to
McMinnville, down to Sheridan, south to West Perrydale, and back through
Amity to McMinnville. 107 mi. 8.22 hrs
We found more birds today than Carol & I did a year ago, but we missed
Merlin, Cooper's Hawk, Great Horned Owl and Osprey, which we saw then.
We found:
35 Red-tails
9 ROUGH LEGS
95 Kestrels
4 N. Harriers
27 Bald Eagles - 8 adult, 19 subadult
3 Turkey Vultures
Plus 10 Western Bluebirds in 3 locations
Let me say a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped this year. It was a nice
tribute to Carol's memory, and we had fun doing it.
